Yes, our yearly affair. People will stay in their house or rush back to hometown – Malaysia and have a very decent meal- most of the time steamboat, yusheng and after that watch the count down.
For us… we are not going back to my husband’s hometown. But we are still going to jam at the custom for 5 hours to go to my parents’ holiday home in JB.
I like the ambience and atmosphere to celebrate in Malaysia.
Reason:
- Bigger space for the kids to play
- House everyone. Each couple have their own room.
- Fireworks
For me, family is important.
By right, Chinese tradition (at least I know it is our Taiwanese tradition ) daughter married is not allow to go back to their maternal side for Chinese new year. They are only allow to come back on the second day of Chinese New year.
So I totally love the idea when my mother suggest we go in for CNY. Because I do know I do not have much time left to spent with them. So every moment is important.
I will help her cook and prepare for the feast. She will whip out 10 dishes.

I am always so proud of what we had made. I will made sure I will post online to showcase my mummy creation.
This year Chinese zodiac is Pig. So my dad and sister, created this yusheng.

After the meal, we will wait till 11.59pm. Our neighbour will have a great firework for us.
Meanwhile, will let the kids play these. POP. And Sky lanterns. We write our wishes on these lanterns and light up the candle wax in the and it will raise up like a hot air balloon.

I really hope these are the tradition we keep in these family. I know it is tough for the driver, Mr L, my brother in law, my Dad.
But how long can we keep these tradition.
Kids will grow up. And my parents will grow old soon and these will be gone even before we know it.
Mr L had been complaining the long Jam at the custom and the idea of my stupid tradition. And keep asking to drop these. I know the frustration and angry the driver get. I am a driver too. Even if I explained to him he still this is silly.
I do hope he will understand the family memories I want to create and keep.

Happy Chinese New Year to all.
